Jaisalm Fort: This fort is built in the middle of the Thar desert. Thousands of tourists visit here every year. For this reason, the golden city fort has become very popular among people. This fort was built in 1156 by Raja Rao Jaisal. This fort has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage. This fort is also known as the Golden Fort. About 4000 people live in this the golden city fort. This is why this fort is called the living fort.
Patuan Ki Haveli: Apart from the fort there are many havelis out of which Patuan Ki Haveli is the biggest. Tourists flock to visit this haveli. There are a total of five havelis in all these havelis, there are various types of ancient carved script, many handicraft furniture will be seen by your eyes.
Some Sand Dunes: This place is one of the tourist spots. Tourists do various recreational activities here. This place is the most beautiful and popular place in Thor desert. Tourists can pitch their tents, hike, zipline and much more.
Gadisar Lake: In this Thar desert you will find a lake called Gadisar Lake. This lake used to supply water to the kings and people of the city in ancient times. This lake was created artificially. Several temples have been built around this lake which is worth seeing.
Events of Thor Desert: Every year in February many tourists come here. A grand function is organized in the fort every year. This event goes on for many days. Various kinds of local furniture, culture, song, dance, show, competition of Ula and many other things are organized in this event.
Kuldhara Village: This is a mysterious village here around 1800 century the entire village suddenly became empty. Many tourists come to Thar Desert to visit its villages. No people live in this village yet.
There are many more historical places to visit in Jaisalm. There are many reasons why you should visit here. Enjoying the Thor desert, all the historical sites and some amazing scenery are many more reasons. Here you can go many ways. The nearest airport is at Jodhpur from where you can reach Jaisalm within a few hours. You can go by rail or by road. But the history of this Thor or Jaisalm is not over yet.
